Mission Statement and Key Areas of Ministry

Mission Statement

Through the Gospel in Word and Sacrament, under the guidance and blessing of the Triune God, we will strive to passionately carry out the ministry of Jesus Christ, which is to nurture the faith of our congregational members, and to reach out to those in need of the Saving Word. (Matthew 28:18-20 and Mark 16:15)

Key Areas of Ministry

Recognizing our responsibilities as a Christian church to this mission, we will therefore further strive:

  1. Worship: To preach the law and gospel “in its truth and purity”, to administer the sacraments through which God creates and nourishes saving faith, and to support and encourage regular attendance at worship services, Bible studies, and Holy Communion. (Romans 10:17, 2 Timothy 4:2)
  2. Music: To develop and make use of the musical gifts of our members to worship and praise our Lord and Savior and to edify all who worship with us. (Psalm 30:4, Psalm 108:1-3)
  3. Education: To provide and promote opportunities for adults and youth, men and women to grow in spiritual knowledge and understanding through God’s Word. (Colossians 3:16, 2 Timothy 3:14-17)
  4. Local Outreach: To utilize the spiritual gifts of our current members to reach out to our non-active members and to the un-churched people in our community. (1 Peter 3:15, James 5:19-20)
  5. Mission Outreach: To support both home and foreign missions, and to encourage young men and women to pursue the full-time preaching and teaching ministry. (Matthew 28:18-19, Ephesians 4:11-12)
  6. Family: To provide a cohesive, Christ-centered environment that promotes parental leadership, love and unity within the family. (1 Timothy 3:4, Ephesians 6:4)
  7. Fellowship: To encourage and provide opportunity for wholesome and beneficial fellowship interactions and activities between members of the congregation and others, which strengthen the bond of Christian relationships. (Acts 2:42, 1 John 1:7)
  8. Resources: To provide for the care of our church workers, to efficiently and responsibly manage and support the financial affairs, and to maintain in good repair the physical facilities. (Acts 6:1-4)
